Our Mission:

Camp for a Cause with Camp Twin Lakes at UGA strives to raise student and faculty awareness about
Camp Twin Lakes and its mission, as well as to
promote a relationship between Camp Twin Lakes
and the University of Georgia student body.

Why we Camp for a Cause!

We Camp For A Cause in order for everyone of every shape, age, ability, etc. to have a place to feel comfortable and at home in his or her own skin. We truly want to see people’s “challenges become triumphs.” We want to share the infectious spirit of every inspirational person we encounter at camp with the University of Georgia because of how we have seen children’s lives, as well as our own, impacted in such an incredible, positive way.

How we Camp for a Cause!

Advocating, raising awareness, fundraising, and volunteering are a few examples of how we Camp For A Cause. Through our endless stories and memories, we are able to share the positive experiences we have gone through so that others can get a peek into camp. Each spring, we host A Night of the Arts in order to raise money to see that a few more campers are able to attend summer camp at minimal cost to their families (Ask your CFAC Rep what this year’s goal is!). We also provide many different service opportunities, so that our members see direct benefits of their time as volunteers. Our largest volunteer opportunity is called Camp-to-Go in which CFAC members travel to different Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Hospitals and bring camp games, activities, and the camp spirit to those children who are unable to leave the hospital to attend camp.

Who we camp for!

We camp for Camp Twin Lakes: a nonprofit organization that provides year-round recreational, therapeutic, and educational camp programs for children and young adults with serious illnesses, disabilities, and other life challenges to help each camper grow in their confidence and experience the joys of childhood. With nearly 60 nonprofit partner organizations, Camp Twin Lakes is able to serve more than 9,000 campers annually with customized, medically supportive camp programs that allow “the isolation campers so often feel [to] vanish in the warmth and comfort of new friendships forged by the strongest of bonds—the illnesses and challenges they have in common.”
